Tour programme: 9 days / 8 nights

1st day:
Milan to Orta San Giulio

Individual arrival in Milan and transfer to Orta San Giulio. You explore the enchanting seaside village of Orta San Giulio with its café-lined piazza, a secluded world on a peninsula in the lake with a tranquil beauty. Overnight in Orta San Giulio.

2nd day:
Madonna del Sasso (3h)

Perched above the lake and topped with beautiful arches, the Santuario Madonna del Sasso is your picture-perfect destination today. Walk through the pristine Italian villages that look as if they were pulled straight out of a painting. A quick boat ride brings us to Isola San Giulio, where you can walk a path near the picturesque Basilica di San Giulio. Overnight in Orta San Giulio.

3rd day:
Mottarone & Isola Bella (1h30)

Transfer to Stresa. With the funicular you ride up to the mountain of Mottarone (4891 feet), which divides Lake Maggiore from Lake Orta, and offers one of the most breathtaking views of the lakes and the distant Alps. In the afternoon hop aboard a boat to the island of Isola Bella to explore the 18th century Villa Borromeo and its grounds, now a world famous botanical garden. Overnight in Orta San Giulio.

4th day:
Sasso del Ferro (3h)

Transfer to Intra and boat ride to Laveno and hike up to Sasso del Ferro (3485 feet). You can enjoy lunch (own expenses) on top of the mountain. Take the funicular down to Laveno and travel back by boat to Intra. Transfer back to the hotel. Overnight in Orta San Giulio.

5th day:
Orta San Giulio to Monterosso / Vernazza

Private transfer to Milan and train ride to Monterosso in the Cinque Terre. From Monterosso, with its sprawling crescent beaches, you’ll hike in the next days on rosemary-scented trails that string together some of the most stunning villages of Cinque Terre. Walk to Vernazza, renowned as one of the most beautiful villages along the coast with its tiny harbour and central piazza lined with restaurants and cafes. No hikes on this day. Overnight in Monterosso

6th day:
Vernazza / Corniglia / Riomaggiore (2h30-3h)

The next two days we enjoy classic Cinque Terre hikes that link three of the five villages. A train ride brings you to Vernazza, and you’ll visit the village’s Gothic church, the Natività di Maria Vergine with a rose carved out of Carrara marble. Continue hiking to Corniglia enjoying fantastic vistas of the sea. After exploring the enchanting village, take the train to visit beautiful Riomaggiore, the fifth hamlet of the Cinque Terre, before returning to the hotel. Overnight in Monterosso.

7th day:
Levanto (3h-3h30)

The next day, we walk down to the small village of Levanto, with nice views of the open sea. Overnight in Monterosso.

8th day:
Porto Venere (2h-3h)

By boat we travel to Porto Venere, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover Porto Venere’s medieval center with beautiful tall and colourful houses, fortress, San Pietro Church and San Lorenzo Church. A boat takes you back to Monterosso. Overnight in Monterosso.

9th day:

After breakfast, ride by public train to Milano Centrale and end of tour.
